Mission Statement

What you can expect from me

As a teacher my goal is to instruct, interpret, guide, inspire, and open up an entire world of music to you that only this unique instrument, the guitar can bring. I will bring over 40 years of experience and music knowledge to each lesson. Always patient and understanding, each minute spent with the you will be dedicated toward helping you to obtain your goal. And more then that, new horizons will be opened up to you, new musically adventures lay ahead, it’s all there for the taking.

A lesson plan will be built around each student based on experience, style of music, and ability to learn. I will give you a foundation that you can build upon that in time with practice and dedication will have you sitting by the fire playing your favorite song on an acoustic, or onstage playing power cords and searing lead solo’s in a rock band! Music is something you do for the rest of your life, and it all starts right here.

You will learn basic Music Theory as it applies to acoustic and rock & roll guitar. You will learn how to read “Tablature” as that is the language written specifically for the guitar. You will learn how to “play by ear”, how to listen to a song and find the key it’s in, pick out the root notes of a solo, melody line or cord and build on that to play exactly what you just heard, or to expand on that and create something new that you can call your own.

Proper Technique plays a major roll, particularly as you begin to advance and progress. This is something I will lean heavily on, it is what makes the difference between an average player, and a great player!

What I expect from you

I did all the hard stuff, now all you have to do is reach out and take advantage of what I can give to you. And there’s really only two things you will need to do.

First, practice and dedication. The length of time it takes a student to accomplish his or her goals varies greatly depending upon the overall amount of focused practice time involved. The more time spent with the instrument, the more beneficial the guidance given in lessons will be.

Second, steady attendance. It is important to realize that progress can only be maintained when lessons occur on a regular basis. I ask your cooperation in not missing lessons, as cancellations benefit neither the student nor the teacher.
